Art is Lyn Beaton’s life, a language that helps her to express herself the best way she knows how. Lyn enjoys working in many different mediums, mostly dictated by the subject or theme she is working on at any given time. Her inspirations come from nature, her deep thoughts on life, human beings and the way we live and relate to our shared inhabitance of this planet.
Life through art is a never-ending learning experience for Lyn, whose curiosity leads her to explore more deeply through the medium of nature journaling and botanical paintings and drawings. This, in turn, encourages her to look at her surroundings more closely to gain more insight, and encourages her to research and apply a little scientific knowledge to her drawings of plants, animals and the environment. The results provide her with a collection of “small artworks” in the form of journals. Lyn’s mantra quotes Albert Einstein: “… look more deeply into nature, and you will understand everything a little better.”
Lynn occasionally does larger artworks and presents art classes part-time. She is also involved with sharing her passions and skills with other artists at botanical journaling workshops that are advertised from time to time and held at various locations in and around Knysna.
