Cryselda Venter was born in Potchefstroom, where she went to school with Art as one of her Gr 12 subjects. She completed her HED Teachers Diploma at PUKKE, majoring in Design and Art History. She was encouraged to further her studies and art career while teaching.
Always regretting not having the opportunity to do printmaking, she took a leap of faith after the birth of her daughter and resigned as a teacher. She enrolled for a BA in Fine Art at Unisa and completed her degree with majors in Printmaking and History of Art. She returned to teaching after the birth of her son. Her teaching career spans 30 years, teaching from Gr1 to 3rd year level.
Cryselda is now retired and resides in Jeffreys Bay where she teaches small groups of adults from her studio – Cat’s Art Studio. Cryselda is a multidisciplinary artist enjoying painting, silversmithing and gemstone faceting, but most of all drawing and printmaking.
